The original Yoga Nidrā technique sprang from the compilation of different ancient yoga methods studied by Swami Satyananda Saraswati in the 1960s.
Later, after having been analysed and observed scientifically, the results confirm its effectiveness in the development and maintenance of a state of equilibrium and lasting general psychophysical well-being.
The main characteristic of Yoga Nidrā is the systematic rotation of bodily awareness.
Practising Yoga Nidrā, you will learn the art of complete physical, emotional and mental relaxation, essential for the Sankalpa (the Sanskrit word for resolution) which is one of the fundamental elements of this practice. Sankalpa, clearly and positively, in the present.
These methods focus on imagery and positive phrases, thus encouraging: the changing of habits, the setting of personal goals, making the most of our own abilities, and stimulating learning, memory and intuition.
During pregnancy the practice of Yoga Nidrā is an enriching experience of union between the mother and her baby. It has a deep, calming effect on both at a time of great anticipation and anxiety. The baby is being formed in a liquid environment – an ideal setting for transmitting sounds – and feels caressed.
